A few years back, Chicago Public Schools attempted to close down our school, National Teachers Academy, a high-performing PK-8 school serving mostly Black students, in order to establish a high school for affluent families in the community. We rejected the plan. Throughout the long fight to save our school, an amazing group of filmmakers documented our experiences. Coming soon, our story will be shared with the world. Prevail: The Story of the NTA Community
Welcome
#WeareNTA is a representation of the community spirit of National Teachers Academy, a top-performing preK-8 school in Chicago.
We are an 80% African American, 80% low-income student population.
We are parents, neighbors, and community members dedicated to racial equity.
We are united in our opposition to Chicago Public Schools' proposal to displace our students in order to turn our building into a high school.
And we believe that while the arc of the moral universe is long, it bends towards justice.
